Dr. Dennis Weimer is a triple board-certified physician, holding certifications in both Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (formerly classified as Psychosomatic Medicine) from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and board certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is also a recognized Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
After beginning his undergraduate studies at Pepperdine University, he graduated cum laude from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1995. Dr. Weimer then completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Arizona in 1999.
An experienced and meticulous clinician, he has practiced for more than 25 years in diverse roles and settings, utilizing an eclectic array of treatment modalities such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy including Suboxone, motivational interviewing, relationship counseling, and TMS. He has served as Medical Director of numerous inpatient hospitals and outpatient clinics throughout the Western United States.
Dr. Weimer was on faculty at the University of Arizona for many years. He has educated, lectured, mentored, and supervised countless nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, and residents over the years. He received the 2010-2011 University of Arizona Department of Psychiatry Junior Resident's Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Education.
